The GB4000 operates in two modes:  RF Mode and Audio Mode.  The output specs are different depending on which mode you are using.

For RF Mode, the maximum output voltage is 115V Peak-to-Peak.  The output power is up to about 3.7 watts.

For Audio Mode, the maximum output voltage is 38V Peak-to-Peak.  The output power is up to about .5 watts
In General, if your machine is in RF mode and the RF Indicator light is on when you are running a channel, your machine is working correctly.  However, if you are concerned, you can send it in to the factory to be tested and repaired if necessary.   Please call us at the number at the top of the page if you want to pursue that course.
The reason the GB-4000 is not battery operated is because of its power output range. Rechargeable instruments only have 28 volts peak to peak voltage output. In the audio mode the GB-4000 is variable and has a range from 0 to 35 volts peak to peak. In the RF mode the GB-4000 is variable from 0 to over 100 volts peak to peak. Because of these capabilities it is not feasible to use batteries in the GB-4000.
